If only for just a second.

I recently stumbled across this video that is truly inspiring and beautiful. It brought tears to my eye, that I just had to share it.

Mimi Foundation, a French charity told 20 cancer patients that they were going to get their hair and makeup done. All they needed to do was to close their eyes to make it more exciting. What they didn't know was that they would look completely silly. A camera is hidden behind the mirror to capture their's reaction when they opened their eyes for the big reveal, enabling the camera to capture a "moment of carefreeness" even for just a second.

HIM :)

This year has truly been the most amazing year for me, especially since I met him. I remember vividly that he was wearing these funny looking shorts and a t – shirt, and he has this big mass of curly black hair. My first impression of him was that he seems cool. We had a disagreement when we first met over the direction to turn when doing the Copa, which we laugh about it now. Our first date shortly after that was in his opinion, an utter disaster. To be honest, I can’t remember what happened. Fortunately, our paths crossed again a couple of months later. This time, it was different. I gave it a chance and I’m so glad I did. We have been dating ever since.

He’s the only child in his family. He is very family – oriented and is especially close with his mom. His mom brought him up well, I could tell. He loves to travel and has traveled to America. Our earliest conversation involves stories of his experience in America. It makes him happy; it shows in the excitement in his eyes when he talks about it. He would proudly share the photos he took while he was in America and the places and food he experienced.

Speaking of photos, he prefers to be the one taking the photos rather than being in the photos. His Facebook does not even have a single photo of him smiling for the camera. I would love to have a photo of him someday, because I think he’s absolutely handsome and I want to remember just how handsome he is. In future, I will definitely treasure any photos of him because I know it would be so rare.

He has beautiful black curly hair that tends to stay the same in any weather. It's rather attractive, although I want his hair since I detest my flat straight hair. I especially love running my hands through his beautiful hair. His fashion sense is like Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother, it suits him really well.

He loves to be challenged and wants his mind to be stimulated especially in his job. He’s really smart, and pretty much good in most things. He is hard working too, when he has work to do, he would dedicate a few hours just to do the work with minimal distractions. I admire that about him because I’m not like that.

His favorite color is blue, but he doesn’t love it as much as I love purple. He’s also a very interesting person to talk to. I love it when he talks about things he is passionate about. I love our intellectual and funny conversations. I also love our childish conversations about anything and everything, despite him being a few years older than me; I don’t notice the age difference anymore.

He’s funny, I mean really funny. He loves joking around, and doing some weird random accent or voice, which cheers me up when I’m sad. I find it cute, sometimes annoying. He’s weird too, in a good way. I enjoy being weird together with him. He’s very laidback and carefree. He doesn’t take life too seriously which is what I love about him. I get shy around him sometimes, he’s just so amazing. But I love seeing him smile when I say something weird, retarded or amusing. He has the most beautiful smile. A smile that just makes me melt inside every time. When he smiles, he looks younger and so good looking.

He kisses me, everywhere; on the mouth, cheeks, hands; at the most random time. I love holding his hands; he has strong arms which makes me feel safe around him. He loves to cook too. I am not kidding when I say; he’s the BEST cook I know. He cooks the best dishes ever. I could eat his cooking everyday for the rest of my life, that’s how good it is. I feel lucky whenever he cooks for me, because it makes me happy. I love seeing him happy too because his happiness is my happiness, I truly believe in this saying.

He texts me everyday even when he’s busy or when I’m busy just to show he’s thinking of me. He calls me most nights too, just to ask how my day was. He hates it when I get sad over something. When I’m sad, he’s sad. He is really good at resolving conflicts. He is very sensible, whereas I am highly emotional. He keeps me grounded. We do disagree on things because we both have our own opinions. We respect each other and come out a little stronger every time. He listens to me even when I don’t make any sense.

I love his character and personality. I love his patience, during my good and bad days. I love him for who he is, and for who he wants to be, even if he has no idea who he wants to be yet. I love our friendship and companionship. I love spending time with him. I love just chilling and having a laugh with him. I love how comfortable I feel when in his presence. When I don’t see him, I really miss him and his company. I cannot imagine life without him now. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try because he really surprised me.

He’s my better half. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me this year. And I can’t wait to see where this leads to, because whatever happens, I don’t regret it at all.

BEAUTY TAG : GET TO KNOW ME

I recently came across this tag on another blog and I thought it would be fun to do it.
  1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is naturally straight, it does get a little wavy at the ends sometimes, but it's mostly straight.
  2. What is your natural hair colour?
I think it's black. I cannot remember the last time my hair was at it's natural hair colour because I have been colouring it for a while.
  3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
Both. I do it at the salon and sometimes do it at home. I prefer doing it at the salon by professionals so that I don't end up messing up or getting stains all over my neck and arm.
  4. How often do you wash your hair?
Every other day. I have very oily hair roots and dry ends. I try to wash it less so that I don't dry out my hair. On my second day, I like to use a dry shampoo to soak up the oil and make the hair look at least decent.
  5. Do you wear the same style every day or change it?
I don't really style my hair using straightener or curling iron. I just leave it straight, everyday.
  6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I rarely wear nail polish. To be honest, I have no idea how to even apply them without causing a big mess.
  7. How often do you change your nail polish?
Never, I think I wore nail polish about 3 times since the start of this year?!!
  8. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just in the summer?
I rarely polish my toes, as I'm very lazy.
  9. How long does it take you to put on your makeup?
It depends on how long I have. Usually, I take about 15 minutes if I'm going to work. If I have more time, like over the weekend, I'll take a little longer.
  10. What do you do first, face or eyes?
I always do my face first, as I find doing my eyes first really weird. I heard that you should do your eyes first so that you can clean up any eyeshadow fall outs when you do your face.
  11. Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I buy what I need, but I don't end up using it as often as I like. I'm trying to use up all I have right now.
  12. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Never as I think it would be very annoying behind my glasses!
  13. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Not really, but I do wear powder, eyeliner and mascara everyday. If I feel like it, I'll add blush and eyeshadow.
  14. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family?
No I don't, I find it weird wearing it at home. I tend to remove it as soon as I get home.
  15. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Yes I will. I do that when I go to the gym, or do groceries.
  16. How many high end products do you have?
Not alot. But I have started collecting high end products which I know I will love. My favourite high end brand is Benefit.
  17. How often do you wash your makeup brushes?
I'm really bad at remembering to wash my brushes!! I wash it when I can remember to do it, which is like twice a month.
  18. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
I usually decide when I'm getting dressed.
  19. How often do you change your handbag?
I have two bags for everyday. One is a black bag from Target and the other is a lovely purple bag that was given to me by my mum. I alternate my bag between the two whenever I get bored.
  20. What time do you get up and go to sleep?
I get up around 6.30-7am, and go to bed around 12-1am.
  21. How often or when do you work out?
I've been lazy in working out, even though I have a gym membership. When I'm not lazy, I do it around 2-3 times a week.
  22. Left-handed or right-handed?
    Right-handed.
  23. How tall are you?
    I'm only 160cm, I think?
  24. Do you speak a foreign language?
Mandarin and Malay. But I'm horrible at both.
  25. How many pets do you have?
I had one dog called Jaffa but we had to give him away when we moved house.
  26. Do you read the comments posted on blogs?
I do sometimes. I rarely check my blog, but when I do, I feel happy if someone has commented on it.
  27. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
No I don't, unless I really really want it.
  28. How did you come up with your blog name?
My blog was originally called Cheeky Monster, but I recently changed it to Michelle L which is my name. I really like the new name.
  29. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
I use my Samsung S3 phone camera.
  30. How often do you clean your room?
I try to do it once a week.
  31. What is your favourite colour?
    PURPLE!!
  32. Do you swear?
Not really. I'm a good girl.
  33. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Well right now, I have work to do.

Turning 21: A Reflection, A Life Milestone

I’ve always been the girl that gets excited for her birthday! I’ve always been the girl that will count down the days leading to her birthday.
But this year with the BIG 2-1 birthday fast approaching, I don’t feel as overly excited as my other birthdays. And now its tomorrow and I still am not jumping up and down like I used to!
Now why is that?
Adulthood?
Pressure?
Expectations?
These things come to mind.
Turning 21, people have this expectation of you to start acting like a responsible adult. Big life changes, big decisions, it’s all so scary. For me, it’s definitely a time of transition and a time to make the changes that I want.
I found this quote recently which I love; “21 is that magical age when suddenly all the things your parents taught you, whether you wanted to learn them or not, starts to look like pretty good information.”

21 things I learned turning 21
1.       Procrastination is bad, don’t leave things to the last minute.
2.       There will always be someone that will put you down, no matter how hard you try to make them happy.
3.       A relationship is based on trust, honesty and communication.
4.       People can change, they can turn from the most loving person to your worst enemy.
5.       Smiling instantly makes you more attractive.
6.       It’s good to laugh at yourself sometimes.
7.       Food is amazing.
8.       No matter what you do, your family will always be there for you.
9.       It’s not too late to chase your dream, never give up.
10.   It’s not just about the end destination; rather it’s about the journey and the memories.
11.   Saying sorry is not overrated.
12.   You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
13.   Skinny is out, curvy is in.
14.   Crying is not a sign of weakness.
15.   Being weird is better than being like everyone else.
16.   Grades may not be the most important thing, but it is important.
17.   You can learn a lot from movies and books.
18.   There is a difference between being nice and being kind hearted.
19.   Being in love is awesome.
20.   Do not pop a pimple, it leaves a mark, seriously, I know.
21.   There is always something to be thankful for like your family and friends.
There you have it. This is my 21 things I have learnt turning 21, as a result of my experiences and memories. Hopefully, I will learn many more in my 20’s.

~ I’ll be a year older; hopefully I’ll also be a year wiser.~

Everyday Natural Makeup Routine (July 2013)

It seems long absences between posts are becoming a frequent habit on this blog. I've been just plain lazy to write posts, but I'll try to write and post more from now on!

This post is dedicated to my simple everyday natural makeup routine:

1. FACE OF AUSTRALIA Face Base Primer :
This is a really good drugstore primer. It has a very sheer creamy like consistency which I like. I try to steer away from silicon based primer on a daily basis because I feel that it clogs my pores and cause pimples. I find that this primer does make my makeup last longer, but the oil control is not good.

2. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream :
As mentioned in a previous post, this bb cream is my holy grail product. Its light coverage, evens out skin tone and not too greyish looking like some other bb creams. I've been using it for almost 2 years now.

3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium (Not included in above picture) :
I use this to set my makeup and mattify my oily face throughout the day. I also love using this on its own as a powder foundation. This product was also mentioned in another earlier post. A cheaper alternative for this that I found is the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder, however I think the MAC MSF is much better in terms of the finish it gives and the lasting power of the product.

4. NARS Blush in Orgasm :
I can see why this is a cult favourite. I love it as it looks so natural on my cheeks and gives my face a little glow. The colour is flattering for all skin tones too.

5. BOURJOIS Volume Glamorous  Mascara
I got this as gift in my Priceline Beauty Bag a couple of months ago. Overall, I don't really like it. I find that there are better mascaras out there, like the Maybelline mascaras and Covergirl mascaras. It tends to clump my lashes, and its super hard to wash off.

6. RIMMEL Scandaleyes Eyeliner
Loving how creamy and long lasting these eyeliners are. I'll keep repurchasing it because it's that good!

7. EMPRO Triangular Brow Pencil in Dark Brown
Empro is a well known brand in Malaysia. I love how the brow pencil is in a triangular shape which makes filling my brows in so much easier.

8. BEESWAX Lip Balm
This lip balm moisturises my chapped and dry lips throughout the day.

So these are the products I have been loving and using on a daily basis. Depending on the occasion, I might apply a matte or shimmery brown eyeshadow to make my eyes pop more.

Hopes for a new Malaysia, a new nation - GE13

I was hesitant to write about this, as I can see that there is so much frustration and disbelief with the results of GE’13 in Malaysia yesterday. Let me start by briefly telling you about my background and where I come from. I was born and raised in the little country called Malaysia.  I spent most of my memorable childhood in Malaysia. Like most Malaysians, when asked by strangers what I love about the country, I would gush about the oh-so-delicious food, especially the Mamak stall food found locally. When I migrated to Australia, the food does not even compare, and still to this day, I miss the taste and flavour of the authentic Malaysian food found back home.

Although I have migrated to Australia 5 years ago, Malaysia will always be a part of me, as it’s a part of who I am, the place where I grew up, the place where my beloved family and relatives reside. I want my future children to be able to have the choice and opportunity to experience all that this beautiful country has to offer without the interference and corruption of the Malaysian government. I want them to have hope and faith that Malaysia is safe; the place where they came from is a safe place.

Democracy is a severe issue in Malaysia, how can we keep our children and off springs safe if the government is a fraud and democracy is dead. When fairness and equality is non existent in our community. Where the credibility of the government and the police authorities are questioned. We hear about under privileged or war-torn countries, whose governments are seeking help from others to develop and improve the economies of these countries, but no one speaks or vocally addresses the democracy issue within our Malaysian government. How can our country move forward when the people who rule us, or runs our country does not have a care for its people and society.

Over the last couple of days, the GE’13 has affected so many people; I can’t even scroll through my FB newsfeed without someone mentioning the upcoming election, or the disappointment on the election poll results. The fiery passion that every Malaysians have regarding this is evident, even petitions have been created online, such as the petition named Democracy crisis in Malaysia: foreign workers were employed for fraud voting in Malaysian General Election, which has an astonishing 170,469 signatures. I have never seen Malaysians so united in my 20 years of existence. Malaysia still has a lot to change, however I believe that we have come too far to give up hope for the future of Malaysia and its people. I am confident that there is light at the end of this darkness, so don’t give up hope just yet

Remember that if one person can make a difference, imagine how much one nation can do?

This is purely my opinion. I do not mean to offend anyone.

ALWAYS THE IDEALIST

Ever heard someone say "its crazy how things can change so quickly"? I've always been a pessimist about this, but boy were they right all along!

I've always believed that people can go through great extent to predict something or to prepare for something. But what I've learned is that they can't do anything about it, or do anything to change what will happen. Things happen. It's simple as that.

The only thing that you can change is yourself, and how you perceive things as it happens. I never believed in the external locus of control, where things happen outside your control. I've always had a specific idea in my mind growing up. A certain frame of mind, a certain outlook on life. I've stuck with that same idealistic belief for so long, clinging onto it as it gave me hope about what is to come in the near future. I guess you can call me an idealist. Questioning this idealism is like losing part of something I believed in.

I've always been fascinated with how those affected by horrific tragedies, like losing their family, financial stability or even lose part of themselves, have the courage to change themselves for the better and look towards the future with such positive attitude. How does someone go through such positive and life changing changes after those things that made them happy or define who they are, is suddenly taken away from them?
How can they not hate the world, after moments where it feels like the world is against them?

I guess things can change, people can change; but you can't change your destiny.

Gentleman vs Gangnam Style (PSY)

There is only one song that has recently taken the world by storm. Psy's much awaited and anticipated new MV "Gentleman" has almost hit $160 million views (159,596,386 to be exact) since it was released on Youtube.

I must say, I prefer his new single "Gentleman" over "Gangnam Style". I find it so addictive and even as I'm writing this post right now, I can't stop moving and dancing to his song. His songs are addictive, dance moves are impressive, and this video does not disappoint. Plus, the reaction videos posted by fans on Youtube are funny to watch too. Overall, I'm a huge fan of Psy and I have been enjoying his new song way too much.

GROWING UP WITH PARENTS

Remember when you were young, and your mum just dropped you off in front of your school in the morning. As you were getting out of the car, she called after you, and immediately you turned around feeling slightly embarrassed.

"Mum, go away. Your embarrassing me", you said.

“Aren't you forgetting something?” she asked, “Where’s my kiss goodbye?”

Reluctantly, you quickly ran to give her a quick kiss on the cheek, at the same time silently praying that none of your friends have seen you, especially not the cute boy from your class that you secretly fancy.

During my earlier childhood and adolescent years, I was always embarrassed when my mum or dad showed any kinds of affection towards me in public. I also found it extremely hard to say “I love you” to my parents, or expressed any sort of emotions and feelings towards them. Maybe, it’s an Asian thing, who knows? And don't get me started about the parents trying to talk about the birds and the bees. That calls for an entirely different story altogether!

I was not an easy child growing up. I was somewhat, in my mum’s opinion, rebellious. I was not on good terms with my mother, always skipping classes, coming home late, and even arguing over some boy I was apparently “head over heels for”. In saying that, I am definitely not proud of the things I have done. Looking back, I do regret all the fights and misbehavior, and all the stress I must have caused. I find it totally ridiculous now. "Why didn't I just listen to my mum's advice?", "She was right all along", "Things would have been so much easier if I just listened".

It's too late now. What's done is done.

The lesson that I have learned is that Mum always knows better.

But my stubborn nature has always convinced me that I have to make my own mistakes, in order to learn from them.

One quote that really resonates with me is, "Parents try the best they can. They want the best for you. But a lot of their stuff is just their own. If you can pull yourself away from it and not always feel like they're attacking you, then it's easier to deal with."

As I grew up throughout the years, I've learned to treat my parents like how I want to be treated.  As individuals, we all have differences of opinions on a lot of different things. So learning to get along with your parents means to accept them for who they are, and even appreciating their many quirks. Their advice are valuable as they have much more life experience than us, but sometimes its okay to make your own mistakes. It's part of what we call, growing up. I have come to accept that they express their love in different ways. They do care about us in their own way, but we often take it for granted until its too late.

Maybe my mum is right when she says, "we would never know the love of our parents for us until we have become parents ourselves"

FINDING MY HAPPINESS

The sun goes down

The stars come out
And all that counts
Is here and now
My universe will never be the same
I'm glad you came
I'm glad you came..

There are days where things don't go the way you wanted it to be. It's perfectly normal for everyone. We humans are not wired to be happy all 365 days of the year. What’s more important to us is how we pick up ourselves after those bad days. In saying this, one particular quote comes to mind.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I disagree with this.

This quote, which has been widely used since Kelly Clarkson sang a song about it, is commonly said to someone when they are going through a tough situation, or has hit rock bottom.

But my question is, what happens after someone hits rock bottom, or when going through a hard time? Do they just accept it and not do anything about it? Or do they take action, survive from it, and learn from it? Every individual is vastly different. Some will work through it right away and get back on their feet. Whereas others will do stupid things, regrets it and then get through the situation.

The people that I admire most are the ones that are able push themselves to find the light at the end of the tunnel after a bad situation or a bad mistake. This, in my opinion, is what makes us stronger.

In our lives, we go through negative events, the event itself most likely will make us sad, depressed and at times, weak. It doesn’t make us strong. It may make us realize our mistakes, but it won’t make us stronger. We will build a wall around us to shelter our pain and to protect ourselves from getting hurt in future. Those walls represent our fears; such as fear of trusting again, fear of getting hurt again, or fear of losing ourselves. For most, breaking down those walls that acts as barriers involves a long process of healing.

But when those walls are diminished and a person is fully healed, it is a great achievement. That in itself makes us stronger. We are stronger to being able to put ourselves out there again with the risk of getting hurt again. We are stronger in knowing that whatever happens in future, we know everything will be okay.

During the healing process of rediscovering ourselves, we need to look within ourselves and find happiness.

Healing Self = Finding Happiness

Happiness is all around us, whether we can see it or not. Ever seen someone who has so little (no money, no house) act so happy? Maybe you know someone like that? These people put the value of their relationships with others, their health and their kindness above the value of money and assets that is in their name. These people are hard to find nowadays. I truly admire people like these and strive to be like them when I grow up.

Finding happiness can be achieved in 7 steps, which is illustrated in the diagram found below. I find these steps to be the most simplest and straightforward.

7 Steps to Happiness:

1)   Think Less, Feel More

Don’t make a decision or a judgement based on what we think or what we perceive. Follow our heart. Most often, our gut feeling is right.

2)   Frown Less, Smile More
A person’s smile is their most attractive feature. We are a more beautiful person just by forgetting our flaws and smiling more.

3)   Talk less, Listen More
Listening more can allow us to learn more. When we truly listen to someone, we will make the other person happy and feel appreciated as they know they are being heard.

4)   Judge Less, Accept More
Don’t judge a book by its cover. When we see through a person’s outer appearance, we see their true heart.

5)   Watch Less, Do More
Rather than observing someone doing things for themselves, start doing things that we have always wanted to do or things that make us happy. Don’t let our fears stop us from trying new things because we won’t know unless we try it for ourselves.

6)   Complain Less, Appreciate More
Show our appreciation to those that matter to us, and strive not to look for the bad things in any situation. Appreciation for life and everything we have is also essential for our wellbeing.

7)   Fear Less, Love More
Never be afraid of anything. When we let go of our fear, we will learn to love ourselves again.

By following these steps, we will find happiness, improve ourselves and forgive others. This will enable us to heal and move on in life after whatever hardships that have been thrown in our way.
So, are you ready to find your happiness?

APRIL ROTATION

Hello! :)
Oh my, it’s already the month of April! How fast time flies when you’re having fun. I just wanted to do a quick update on my April rotation. Basically, I will pick out what I will be using for the whole month of April. How exciting! Most of the products are basically what I have been using for the past few months, but I’m trying to incorporate products that may have been forgotten unintentionally. I won’t reach for all of these on a daily basis as it depends on how much time I have. But these products are all there if I need to use it.
1)      Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream
This still provides the best, most light weight coverage for me. It glides on like a dream which is good if you don’t have much time to get ready in the morning. If you have acne or hyperpigmentation, this will not be ideal for you, as the coverage is very light. If you like medium to full coverage, this is definitely not for you.

2)      In2it face powder
I got this from Malaysia a while ago. It’s has good oil control properties, and the packaging with a handy mirror inside makes it very versatile and travel-friendly.

3)      Savvy by BD lip glaze in Topaz
This is a very old lip gloss which I am trying to use up.

4)      Maybelline Falsies Black Drama mascara
Maybelline has the best mascara in my opinion. This purple tube is my favourite. I made the mistake of opening it before checking that I mistakenly bought the non-waterproof version when I intended to get the waterproof version. Lesson learned!

5)      Rimmel Scandaleyes Khol eyeliner in Purple
Featured in my February & March favourites, all I can say is that this is my favourite eyeliner. Soft, creamy and long lasting, this has everything I look for in an eyeliner.

6)      Rimmel Bronzer in Sun Glow
If I’m in the mood, I’ll reach for this. It’s the only bronzer I own, so I don’t know how it compares with others.

7)      Lucas Paw Paw ointment
This will be perfect to use in the coming cooler months.

That’s all for now.

Have a good week ;)

THE GET TO KNOW ME TAG

Hey!
I recently stumbled across a get to know me tag, and I figured that I should do this tag as well since I enjoy reading other peoples' answers for this tag.

1. Are you named after anyone? My first name, which is Michelle was not named after anyone. My mother was choosing between Michelle or Melissa, but ended up going for Michelle. I am glad that I was named Michelle. I quite like that name. :)
2. When was the last time you cried? I think I cried a couple of nights ago. I was watching a sad movie which has really touched me.
3. Do you have kids? No I don't, but I definitely want kids in future.
4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? I would definitely be a friend of myself. But it really depends what sort of personality I have as another person. If our personalities clash, then I guess we can't be friends.
5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I do, sometimes? I'm trying really hard to think about this one. I guess its one of those things that I may do without realizing I'm actually doing it.
6. Will you ever bungee-jump? YES YES YES!! Bungee-jumping and skydiving is on my bucket list.
7. What's your favorite cereal? I dont really eat cereals. The cereals that I have tried and liked are Kellogg's Crunchy Nut and Honey Cornflakes (basically anything with honey in it!)
8. What's the first thing you notice about people? I will have to say their face, specifically their eyes. If they have a nice friendly face, kind eyes, with a big friendly smile, then they are my kinda people :P
9. What is your eye colour? It is brown.
10. Scary movie or happy endings? I cant choose because I like both. When I am alone and happy, I like happy endings. I only like scary movies when I am not alone.
11. Favorite smells? I love the smell of my tea tree medicated pimple gel. I love it so much that I would slather it on my face at night even when I don't have pimples.
12. Summer or winter? I like both!! Each of them has pros and cons. But I like winter better because my birthday is in winter.
13. Computer or television? Computer because I can watch TV and videos on my computer.
14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home? A few states away. I live in Melbourne, and I went for a holiday in Gold Coast for a few days, that's the furthest I have been away.
15. Do you have any special talents? I can burp anytime I want. I know it is a pretty disgusting talent and will drive the guys away, but oh well. :P
16. Where were you born? Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
17. What are your hobbies? Salsa dancing, reading novels, watching my favorite TV shows, watching YouTube, hanging out with friends, trying new things.
18. Do you have any pets? Not right now. I had a dog named Jaffa, but we had to give it away.
19. Favorite movie? I have way too many favorite movies. I guess my most favorite movies are the movies based on novels by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, The Last Song, Safe Haven, and A Walk to Remember just to name a few). These movies are timeless, enchanting and so romantic. They are perfect to watch whenever I am feeling down.
20. Do you have any siblings? Yes I do, I have a younger brother.
21. What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be happy and successful, both in my professional and personal lives.

That's all for now.

Grapetini Nails

Savvy by DB nail polish in Grapetini.
Exclusive to Priceline.
I was never the girl who wore nail polish. I never understood how to apply it. Worst of all, whenever I tried to apply it, it always ends up being ruined by a combination of my lack of skills, coordination and clumsiness, causing the nail polish application to be a hot mess. Losing faith during many of my pathetic attempts to apply nail polish like a "normal girl", I would ultimately admit defeat that I will never get it right, and proceed to take the ruined nail polish off with some nail polish removal on cotton pads. It happened so many times that I finally decided to give up and stop trying. I have since only admired other girls' nail art and the bottles of nail polishes in beautiful colours at the store from afar.
It was an encounter at Priceline where it had a box stocked with Savvy nail polishes discounted down to $2 that caught my interest again. I saw a purple nail polish in the shade "Grapetini" and decided I had to have it because its purple.
Well, it took me exactly 2 hours to apply it last night.
I know it will be a while until I ever attempt something like this again. :) Practice makes perfect.

Review: Tony Moly Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm

Today I am going to do a review of the Tony Moly Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm that I recently purchased when I was at Gold Coast. The packaging is in the form of a golden coloured egg. It sort of reminds me of the Golden egg in the Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, where it was the goal of the First Task in the Triwizard Tournament that Harry competed in. That being said, its a really pretty and cute packaging.

The Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm is meant to be used as a face primer and is to be applied right after moisturiser.

A description:
"TonyMoly Eggpore Silky Smooth Balm is a concealer that is enriched with protein, effectively make the pores on nose invisible. Contains Magnolia bark and bud bean extracts, it soothes the irritation caused by daily pollution and free radicals The egg and camellia extracts further control sebum secretion, leaving your face soft and oil-free, make up will last longer as well."

Top view of the cute packaging.  The product is stored in a plastic box which I find very handy.

The product is stored under a plastic lid inside the "golden egg".

The balm has a very smooth , silky and velvety texture.

The balm primer goes on very nicely, filling up and covering any noticeable pores and marks on the face. I  cant say much about oil control, as my face still got a bit oily throughout the day. It did help with the oil control a little bit. The texture of the primer makes any face base products glide on alot better. It gives the face a more flawless finish and the face also feels really soft. I find that this works really well with BB creams, but I have not tried it with foundations. It also makes your face base product last alot longer throughout the day with less need to touch up. The primer can also be used on its own to even out skin and minimise the appearance of pores.

However, this product is silicon based so those with more sensitive skin or is allergic to silicons should be careful. Better yet, if you're allergic to silicons, stay away from this. It is not advisable to use this everyday as it may clog pores. I will only use it for special occasions. I really dont think I want to use this for a normalday; its just too much work and Im lazy. ;)

In conclusions, it is definitely worth a try. It is a really good primer for those with enlarged pores that wants a flawless finish on the face, with a little oil control to help mattify the face.

On another note, look what came in the mail today. I didn't think it would happen but here it is. Now, time to write an appeal letter. Grrrrr.
